Malbork Castle- One of the Largest castle in the World
Malbork Castle is among the most significant and mot beautiful castles in Europe and possibly in the world. As a huge fan of castles I have been to many of these. Malbork fascinate me with its beauty, I was so in love in this place as the first time I see I come back again to research components that I haven't observe the very first moment.
Malbork Castle History
Malbork was build originally in Prussia by the Teutonic Order and was build in typical medieval fortress style.
The Order of the Teutonic Knights of St. Mary's Hospital in Jerusalem, commonly known as the Teutonic Order, was established during the Third Crusade to the Holy Land in 1190. In the beginning, it operated as a brotherhood since hospitallers at Acre, then, after getting its rule in 1198, the brotherhood transformed at a knightly order. Knightly orders participating in the Crusades were gatherings composed of monk-knights. The Teutonic Order was one of three these gatherings, together with the Templars and the Order of St. John being the other two.
Grand Master moved here from Venice. Many of the conservation methods now recognized as standard were developed here. Following severe damage from the Second World War it was again restored, using the detailed documentation prepared by sooner conservators.
How to reach Malbork
If you are looking up the way to visit Malbork Castle, you're probably already in Gdansk, Poland. We spent about a week at Gdansk and found it was a fantastic base to explore the Tricity and surroundings. Despite the 60km distance, Malbork is very easy to access from here and there's no need to invest additional money on an organized tour when you can save your fairly pennies and strategy the afternoon yourself.
There are assorted trains running this route (a few are intercity and a few are local trains) so that your travel time and ticket cost will vary accordingly. We bought our train tickets at Gdansk Glowny channel. At the time, there was a very long line up at the ticket booths so that we tried our luck in the iCCC ticket office at the left corner of the train station and there wasn't any line We compensated roughly 12 PLN every (roughly $4 CAD) for a one-way ticket onto a local train and the ride took somewhere between 45-55 minutes.
Once your train begins arriving to Malbork, you truly get to see such a fantastic view of the castle. The castle looked so close that I got a little too excited and convinced Wes to get off one stop too soon. My bad! But the error was worthwhile and I'd actually recommend it. The halt earlier Malbork's main train station is called Malbork Kałdowo. I would suggest getting off here if you're on a local train (express trains won't stop here) so that you can enjoy a really great view of the castle in the other side of the Nogat River. It is about a 15 minute walk into the castle from Malbork Kałdowo and about the same distance from the main train station to the castle.
Accommodation
Hotels mainly extends from 26 euro into 68 euros.Hostels are cheaper so you may use them too. Airbnb is also an option which you may use it.
